BOARD OF TRUSTEES

REGULAR MEETING MARCH 13, 2008

The Board of Trustees of the Kennard Independent School District met in a Regular Meeting on March 13, 2008, in the Administrative Office with the following members present, to-wit: Mr. Ronald Hill, Mr. Tod English, Mrs. Denise Barclay, Mr. Crest Adair and Mr. Terry Stubblefield.

Absent: Mr. Roger Kellum.

Also present were Mr. Gary Jacobs, Mrs. Carolyn Harrison, Mrs. Melba Petty, Mr. Joe Ainsworth, Mr. James Applewhite, Mr. Bradley Durham and Mr. Chris McClain.

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 P.M. and Mr. Terry Stubblefield led in prayer.

Terry Stubblefield presented to the Board information that he obtained from attending a Grassroots Meeting in Huntsville with Mr. Jacobs on March 11, 2008.

A motion was made by Mr. Crest Adair, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting on February 14, 2008 and Called Board Meeting on February 25, 2008, as presented. Motion carried.

Mr. Tod English moved, seconded by Mr. Crest Adair, to pay the bills due and owing. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Tod English, seconded by Mr. Crest Adair, to accept the recommendation of Mr. Jacobs and approve the amendment to the 2007-2008 School Calendar moving the May 24, 2008 Staff Development Day to May 31, 2008. Motion carried.

Mr. Tod English moved, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to vote on Education Service Center Region VI Board of Directors. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, seconded by Mr. Crest Adair, to accept the recommendation of Mr. Jacobs and approve Textbooks for 2008-2009 School Year. Motion carried.

Mr. Crest Adair moved, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to accept the recommendation of Mr. Jacobs and approve the Cheerleader Constitution for 2008-2009. Voting For: Mr. Crest Adair, Mrs. Denise Barclay and Mr. Tod English. Voting Against: Mr. Terry Stubblefield. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Tod English, seconded by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, to table the Item Adding a Curriculum Director Position, until after Executive Session. Motion carried.

The Board closed Open Session at 7:03 P.M. The Board entered into Executive Session at 7:10 P.M. The Board closed Executive Session at 8:07 P.M. The Board entered into Open Session at 8:08 P.M.

Mr. Tod English moved, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to non-renew Lurleen Carter’s contract as Junior High Math Teacher. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Tod English, seconded by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, to offer Probationary Contracts to: Maurice Peugh-High School Math; Larry Langford-Agriculture; William Jayroe-High School Math; Christa Champagne-First Grade; Jerry Evans-Special Education; and Beverly Worbington-Special Education. Motion carried.

Mr. Tod English moved, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to approve term contracts for Central Administration Staff: Carolyn Harrison, Melba Petty and Joe Ainsworth. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Tod English, seconded by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, to approve term contracts to: Karen Rosser-Counselor; Margaret Wright-Music; Sheryl Patton-Nurse and Lois Taylor-Librarian. Motion carried.

Mr. Tod English moved, seconded by Mr. Crest Adair, to approve term contracts to: Daphne Craycraft; Jessica Stafford; Brenda Craycraft; Angela Gresham; Susan Davis; Sandra Allen; Kathy Durham; Kay Johnson; Nancy Morgan; Dee Ratliff; Laura Loving; Priscilla Anderson; Thomas Frizzell; Marlana Clouse; Leo Denman; Chris McClain; Robert Bailey; Sherrie Chesser; Jennifer Day; Craig Deckard; Amy Gladden; Sara Green; Colleen LaRue; Karen Lenderman; Jamie Minter; Heather Mooneyham; Mike Perez and James McCullough. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Tod English, seconded by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, to offer Tom Petty a 10 month contract. Motion carried.

Mrs. Denise Barclay moved, seconded by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, to offer a term contract to Ann English and Simone Barlow. Voting For: Mr. Ronald Hill, Mrs. Denise Barclay and Mr. Terry Stubblefield. Abstaining: Mr. Tod English and Mr. Crest Adair. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Mr. Terry Stubblefield, seconded by Mrs. Denise Barclay, to add a curriculum director position. Motion carried.

The meeting adjourned at 8:12 P.M.
